On Tuesday 7th September, Busan was hit by a short-lived typhoon. The wind blew stronger and stronger, and the rain poured down. The whole city of Busan was soaked in the water.
Although the weather is unpleasant, VIPs toured ZTE´s booth as scheduled. Among them are Mr. Yoshio Utsumi, Secretary-General of ITU, Mr. Jiang Yaoping, Vice Minister of MII (China), Mr. Hector G.Dimalanta, vice president of Digital Telecommunications Phils.,Inc, Mr. Akil Beshir, Chairman of Telecom Egypt, and so on.
At ITU Telecom Asia 2004, ZTE is the largest exhibitor from China with the booth occupying an area of more than 360 square meters. Aiming at profiling an outstanding image at this ITU telecom gala, ZTE is dedicated to showcasing its cutting-edge technologies and customer-oriented solutions covering fixed, mobile, optical and data telecommunications. Meanwhile, ZTE, as well, presented its latest innovations and global market breakthroughs on 3G/UMTS, CDMA2000, GoTa (Global Open Trunking Architecture), GoFa (Global Optical Fiber Access), NGN and value-added services for both fixed-line and mobile applications.
At ZTE´s booth, VIPs were deeply impressed by ZTE´s differentiated and cost-effective solutions and the latest R&D results. At the sight of a number of colorful services presented by ZTE, Mr. Yoshio Utsumi, Secretary-General of ITU and Ms. Masako Utsumi experienced 3G/UMTS services on-site with great interest. Meanwhile, many visiting guests were amazed by the market breakthroughs ZTE has made both in domestic and international markets. Furthermore, More than 20 carriers expressed their desires to establish or consolidate further business relationships with ZTE.
On Wednesday 8th September, Mr. Shi Lirong delivered a keynote speech at ITU Telecom Forum titled "Affordable trunking services based on CDMA network". Mr. Shi gave a vivid clear picture to the attendees regarding current technology trends addressing the evolution of wireless technologies and how it can boost access to information and communication technologies by means of ZTE´s CDMA GoTa solution. Over 50 senior engineers, technology experts, high-level managements from different organizations attended this forum.
Tuesday´s typhoon in Busan passed quickly, but ZTE´s Booth may have longer time to wait for calm. More and more visitors are coming to visit ZTE. With such an exciting scenario during ITU Telecom Asia, ZTE is standing out itself from all the exhibitors.
In the first half year of 2004, ZTE recorded revenue from principal operations of RMB 11.774 billion (US$ 1.4 billion), up 100.65% over the same period of previous year; profits from principal operations of RMB 4.303 billion (US$520.3 million), up 108.10% over the previous year.
