On March 30, with the arrival of ZTE´s grand exhibition vehicles in Athens, the capital city of Greece and the hometown of Olympic Games, ZTE Corporation (Shenzhen: 000063 Hong Kong: 0763), China´s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions provider officially embarked on its pan-European roadshow following its prelude in Istanbul, Turkey.
Athens, adjoining the beautiful Aegean Sea and bathed in the wisdom radiance of Parthenon, once witnessed the resounding success and splendid glory of Olympic Games 2004. At Olympic Games 2004, ZTE, in partnership with OTE, one of the top ten telecommunications organizations in Europe and the largest operator in Greece deployed an ADSL system serving 16 points. Using the system all Olympic facilities including the main venues, international broadcasting centers, news centers and the press village were able to access broadband Internet services throughout the event. That is the first time that a Chinese telecom equipment vendor serves Olympics and indicates that ZTE has won the first "Gold Medal" for Chinese enterprises in the construction of Olympics telecom infrastructure.
Following its good performance at the prestigious, mission-critical Olympic Games concluded 8 months ago, ZTE now brings Athens again its ground breaking 3G UMTS and NGN technologies and self-developed innovative solutions.
On March 30, in the famous Politia Tennis Club, ZTE held a grand opening ceremony for arriving the roadshow´s second stop, which attracted steady streams of VIP guests involving important local operators like Greece Telecom and telecom experts. The guests had a wonderful experience of ZTE´s advanced wireless technology and solutions for the 3G era, including the Corporation´s industry-leading UMTS UMTS one-stop solution, " Operation & Maintenance Factory" solution for operators´ profits, NGN converged solutions and a wide range of customer-oriented services.
Also, Mr Tian Xuejun, Chinese ambassador to Greece was present at the ceremony. He gave a highly praise of the distinguished achievements ZTE has scored in recent years, and hoped that Greek operators and local partners would have a profound understanding of ZTE so as to better know the ongoing development of China.
"Europe is one of the significant strategic markets for ZTE, and Greece is an important European country featuring strong demands for 3G, next-generation network and broadband services. So far, ZTE has achieved remarkable progress in Greek telecom markets, which will lay a solid foundation for our further market explorations," noted Mr Zhou Fuqiu, ZTE´s President Assistant in a press to over 30 media resources. "Through the roadshow, more European operators will experience great wonderfulness enabled by our 3G UMTS and NGN solutions, and will firmly believe that the partnership with ZTE will definitely drive up their competitive edge and revenues. ZTE´s beautiful performance at last year´s Olympics is a ringing endorsement of ZTE´s formidable broadband access capabilities, and since then, ZTE has started its strategic partnership with OTE, and deployed its network to other regions of Athens."
"To date, ZTE has established 15 offices in Europe, providing local marketing consultations, technical supports and service guarantees. Besides, we have forged long-term strategic relationships with a wealth of European operators and telecom equipment manufacturers," added Mr. Zhou. " Greece will be an ideal place for us to support our customers in Balcon region. We have doubled the number of employees at our Greece office in the last 2 months and are planning to establish a technical support center in the country by June this year."
The pan-Europe roadshow, advocating "Let´s 3G with ZTE", is the first kind of largest scale for Chinese telecommunications manufacturers in Europe. At its first stop-Turkey on March 22, the roadshow has achieved sweeping victory and aroused strong concerns. Mr. Abdullatif SENER, Turkey´s Deputy Prime Minister was present at the opening ceremony and delivered an impassioned speech on behalf of the Turkish government. In addition, over 300 important industry officials, carriers and reporters respectively from Turkey´s Ministry of Communications and Transportation, Turkey Telecommunications Association, GSM Telecommunications Association, Turk Telekom (Turkey´s largest telecom operator), Turky´s top three mobile operators and various mainstream media resources also came to attend the splendid ceremony.
The roadshow marks ZTE´s new inroad into global high-end markets like Europe. It will cover the whole European continent, visiting Turkey, Greece, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, France, Spain and Portugal between March and July this year, with the journey within European continent exceeding 10,000 kilometers.
