25 November 2008, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation, the leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, continues to receive international recognition in offering the best and high quality telecom equipment solutions in the industry. Last week, ZTE was honored by the CDMA Development Group (CDG) (www.cdg.org) with the 2008 3G CDMA Industry Achievement Award at the 2008 3G CDMA North America Regional Conference in San Diego, California.
The award was given by CDG for ZTE’s 3G CDMA systems which enable commercial flights across Virgin America Airlines to provide in-flight Internet services using Wi-Fi wireless technology. CDG honors ZTE for this significant contribution to making it possible for several ground-based transmitters to communicate with 3G CDMA modems installed on commercial planes. With this international feat, ZTE is now the only Chinese telecom equipment vendor to be awarded with the 3G CDMA Industry Achievement Award in the industry for the first time.
As a leader in developing and introducing innovative technology in the industry, ZTE has made great achievements in the development of its All-IP CDMA200, SDR soft base station, EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B evolution to LTE. Today, ZTE’s CDMA systems has been widely deployed by about 120 operators in over 70 countries and regions worldwide with a subscriber base of 170 million.

The CDMA Development Group is a trade association formed to foster the worldwide development, implementation and use of CDMA2000 technologies. It has more than 140 member companies including many of the world’s largest wireless carriers and equipment manufacturers. CDG’s Industry Achievement Award is given annually to deserving and innovative companies since 1998.
