Türk Telekom and ZTE launch Europe's first millimeter-wave supported 5G-A ISAC maritime management solution
- Türk Telekom and ZTE successfully launched Europe's first millimeter-wave supported 5G-A technology for maritime management
- The breakthrough ISAC solution provides real-time monitoring and enhances maritime safety and management efficiency
Barcelona, Spain, 10 March 2025 - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, together with Türk Telekom, has announced the successful implementation of Europe's first application of millimeter-wave supported 5G-A ISAC (Integrated Sensing and Communication) solution in maritime management during MWC Barcelona 2025, under the theme "Bridging Continents with Innovation" .
This milestone project was carried out at Kumport, Türkiye, which sets the stage for a new era of intelligent waterway management.
The project utilized ZTE's millimeter-wave AAU technology, which combines ISAC functions, enabling precise monitoring and management of vessels. This innovative solution improves maritime safety by offering real-time vessel tracking, electronic fence alerts, and collision avoidance near bridges, significantly enhancing management efficiency.
Türk Telekom and ZTE upgraded their base stations to not only provide high-performance communication services but also detect and track moving objects like ships. Millimeter-wave sensing technology ensures high-precision monitoring even in low-visibility conditions, such as foggy days, overcoming the limitations of traditional video surveillance.
The millimeter-wave base stations allow real-time positioning and trajectory tracking of vessels while setting up electronic fences to automatically detect and alert management of any unauthorized entries. This advancement provides a smarter, more efficient solution for maritime management, greatly improving operational safety.
The success of this pilot project at Kumport showcases the potential of 5G-A ISAC technology for maritime management across the globe. This innovation is expected to be deployed in various maritime management scenarios worldwide, offering robust solutions for safety, environmental monitoring, and traffic control.
