Network infrastructure improvements to enable a range of advanced services
EMCALI, one of Colombia´s four major fixed line operators, has chosen ZTE Corporation (Shenzhen: 000063, Hong Kong: 0763), the fastest growing global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, to provide the infrastructure for its upgraded Softswitch-based Next Generation Network.
The new network, which incorporates ZTE´s Fixed-line 3G@NGN solutions, will provide a range of advanced services including broadband access, IPTV and other intelligent services to customers in Colombia´s second largest city Cali.
"Latin-America is an extremely competitive market for telecoms vendors. Local operators traditionally make demanding requirements on new entrants looking to establish themselves in a region which undoubtedly offers significant potential for future growth," said Mr Huang Dabin, Vice General Manager of ZTE Network Division. "Having been through a period of close competition with a number of mainstream multinational telecom equipment vendors for this contract, we have increased our momentum in the local and global NGN market with this win."
ZTE´s Fixed-line 3G@NGN solutions harness the strength of ZTE´s own patented technologies. Forming a diverse portfolio of migration approaches to next generation networks, the company´s NGN solutions give operators the possibility to select the best-fit option for scalable network development.
ZTE initiated a feasibility analysis of NGN technology in 1998. As the first Chinese member of ISC (International Softswitch Consortium), ZTE has also edited standards on NGN technology for the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).
To date, ZTE has constructed around two hundred NGN networks around the globe, including China´s first commercial NGN network as well as installations in North America, Central Asia, South Asia and South East Asia.
