ZTE, the fastest growing global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions has signed a contract with Telecom Egypt for a 100,000 line CDMA WLL project in Cairo and the Delta region.
This follows an earlier agreement in which ZTE provided CDMA WLLL systems for the Delta region, and confirms ZTE as the largest CDMA equipment provider to Telecom Egypt.
Telecom Egypt is Egypt´s largest state-run wireline operator. Egypt has experienced rapid economic development in recent years and the Egyptian telecommunications market is similarly expanding quickly. Telecom Egypt chose CDMA WLL technology to enable rapid network development, allowing the operator to deliver wide coverage and to provide a wide range of customer services.
ZTE will construct the full-scale network and customise a range of solutions specifically for Telecom Egypt´s requirements.
In the first phase of the Telecom Egypt CDMA WLL project, ZTE provided 60,000 lines of CDMA equipment for fast developing and densely populated Delta region and surrounding regions. This system is now being put into commercial use.
Phase II of the project will continue to deliver the benefits of ZTE´s All-IP CDMA WLL platform including large capacity, stability, and smooth upgrade path to CDMA 2000 1xEVDO. ZTE will supply its 800M core network, access network and fixed wireless terminals.
The project will expand the Delta region network by 47,500 lines and build a new 52,500 line CDMA WLL network in 16 Cairo suburbs including Al-Maryotey and Maadi and in Ramsis and Opera where Telecom Egypt´s headquarters are sited.
"We have been impressed with the strength and depth of ZTE´s CDMA technology expertise," said Mrs. Dawlat El Badawi, V.C. for planning.
Up to now, ZTE CDMA products have been successfully deployed in nearly 60 countries with around 100 operators, with a global capacity of more than 30 million lines for commercial use. ZTE has become China´s largest telecommunication equipment exporter, and one of the leading CDMA equipment vendors in the world.
ZTE has captured over 20% market share in China Unicom´s CDMA network construction, and is now China´s largest CDMA equipment manufacturer. ZTE´s CDMA GoTa products have found widespread applications in over 20 countries including Russia, Norway and Malaysia. ZTE has built over 30 CDMA2000 1xEV-DO systems for commercial or trial use in more than 20 countries and regions including The Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan and Mongolia.
