ZTE Corporation (Shenzhen: 000063, Hong Kong: 0763), the fastest growing global provider of telecommunications equipment and solutions, has announced China´s first HSDPA (High Speed Download Packet Access) data card, the MF330.
HSDPA is a 3G mobile communications technology that features enhanced UMTS technologies, with a top data rate of up to 10Mbps, several times higher than that of UMTS. HSDPA is often referred to as a 3.5G technology.
ZTE´s MF330 data card incorporates features such as high-speed online download, support for voice call and SMS, support for HSDPA and EDGE technologies, and working frequency bands of UMTS 2100 and GSM900/1800/1900.
"HSDPA technology has a strong future, as it is a good solution for the ever-increasing demand for mobile data services," noted Mr Huang Shenghua, international marketing supervisor of ZTE UMTS products. "However, the take-up of HSDPA has been hampered by the lack of devices.
"Now we are proud that we´ve developed China´s first HSDPA data card, and become one of the few HSDPA data card providers in the world.
"ZTE´s MF330 data card, due to be available commercially in early 2006, will enable users on the move to enjoy the same or even better services than those using fixed broadband."
The ZTE MF330 was revealed at the recently-concluded PT/EXPO COMM CHINA 2005, where ZTE also demonstrated major 3G services like high-speed data download and wireless streaming media broadcasting.
"This is an interesting breakthrough made by a China-based telco," according to the experts present at PT/EXPO COMM CHINA 2005. "It will undoubtedly encourage the adoption of HSDPA and enable mobile ZTE customers to experience the benefits of broadband online access while on the move."
