ZTE announced today that it has been awarded a contract to construct the national CDMA network in Algeria. Under the contract, ZTE will provide equipment with a capacity of 120,000 lines for the first phase of the project. The network covers 43 provinces and adopts 1.9GHz CDMA WLL technology. The project is scheduled to put into operation at the end of this year, and upon completion of the network construction, it will be the largest CDMA WLL wireless access network in Africa. The CDMA network is one of the key development projects in Algeria. ZTE won the bid for this project by virtue of its advanced CDMA 1x technology, which symbolizes that ZTE CDMA mobile communication solution was further recognized in Africa. This is another significant breakthrough for ZTE CDMA WLL products in the overseas market following ZTE won the contract with the largest Indian operator BSNL for its nationwide CDMA WLL network at the beginning of this year.
