October 13, 2003 - ZTE held a grand cocktail party in Geneva to celebrate the ITU Telecom World 2003. More than 200 guests attended the cocktail party, including the telecommunications ministers from Kenya and Tanzania, the communications minister of Rwanda, vice communications minister of Zambia, CTO of British Telecom and some customers from Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Hong Kong SAR. ZTE’s president Hou Weigui delivered a speech at the cocktail party on behalf of the Company. Mr. Hou said that ZTE‘s attendance at ITU Telecom World 2003 not only intended to showcase its advanced 3G and NGN products, but also to publicize our exhibition slogan of “innovation, service, win-win and growth” to our customers all over the world. As a Chinese telecom manufacturer, ZTE’s diversified products had entered more than 40 countries and regions over the past years. Albeit the global telecom industry was still at the rationalization stage, ZTE still maintained high growth rate in its market sales and performance, becoming one of the rarely seen equipment manufacturers that had achieved continuous growth. In the first half year of 2003, ZTE recorded the pleasing overseas sales with 100% increase in terms of contracted sales over the corresponding period of the previous year. The exports of mobile, switch and transport products maintained good growth momentum. During the period, the export of GSM products amounted to more than USD 100 million, being the largest exporter of CDMA equipment among the Chinese telecom equipment manufacturers. The European manufacturers can be considered to have played the leading role at ITU Telecom World 1999, but the leading player of this year’s event will undoubtedly belong to the Asian manufacturers with incomparable glamour. As one of the outstanding representative of Chinese manufacturers, ZTE shows that Chinese manufacturers are playing increasingly important roles in the global telecom market by virtue of its cutting-edge 3G and NGN solutions, characteristic handset products and its internationalization strategy.
