Bangkok, November 5, 2003 -The 3G World Congress 2003 convened as scheduled in Thailand. A number of giants of the telecom industry attended the congress with their cutting-edge 3G technologies, offering the visitors a glimpse of a colorful 3G world.

ZTE Corporation, a senior sponsor and the biggest CMDA manufacturer in China presented its cdma20001x EV-DO system and independently developed CPTT system.

As the top name in Chinese CDMA, ZTE´s rollout of CDMA-based PTT ("Push to Talk") trunking voice service attracted a large number of visitors, including many operators and manufacturers.

The system got some public tests. China Netcom´s vice president Pei Aihua made a call via the PTT terminal. And, Mr. Kashin, President of Russia Ulyanovsk Cellular Communication, Mr. Ivanovitch, CEO of Vyatka Cellular Communication and Mr. Arapov, CEO of DIRECT Telecom Corporation made 3-way party calls, which fully demonstrated the advantages of PTT service.

Members of Egypt Telecom´s CDMA WLL tender evaluation committee also showed great interest in ZTE´s CPTT service, and made calls via PTT terminals. As the sole fixed network carrier in Egypt, Egypt Telecom has deployed a CDMA WLL network of 100,000 subscribers throughout the country, so it can be certain that the CPTT service will enhance the value of its present network.

In July 2003, ZTE launched a trial commercial system of CPTT and built a trial office in Shantou for China Unicom. Then in October, ZTE officially rolled out its CPTT commercial system and CPTT trial terminal models. The CPTT commercial terminals are expected to go into batch production by the end of this year. This CPTT service demonstration at the Congress was the debut of ZTE´s PTT services.

About PTT & CPTT

PTT is the abbreviation of "Push To Talk" in the wireless communication area. The user can just press the PTT button on the mobile terminal to call or receive calls. PTT features quick call setup time and point-to-point or point-to-multipoint mode communications; the user can receive calls at any time without taking the receiver off the hook.

CPTT is a PTT technology independently developed by ZTE based on a CDMA network. For traditional operators with ZTE CDMA systems, the CPTT service subsystem can be conveniently added through system upgrade to provide the PTT service. Professional trunking network operators can adopt ZTE´s CDMA system which supports PTT function as an independent trunking system in building their networks.
